There will be 18-hole events on both Saturday and Sunday, plus the 36-hole overall trophies. Entry forms are available at the club or on the website.
Capping off a bit weekend of golf will be the MND Big Freeze charity day on Monday, June 13.
This is four person ambrose for men’s, ladies and mixed teams; 8.30am registration for 9.30am shotgun start. Cost is $200 per team which includes the coveted MND beanie, or $250 including an after-golf hamper pack. Entry forms are available in the pro shop.
On course the ladies played a multiplier stableford last Thursday, won by Karen Druitt and Prue Lloyd with 62 points, from Ruth Peacock and Pat Aitken 61.
Saturday was a stableford event. A-grade winner was Simon Tilders 39 points from runner-up Josh Hunt 37; B-grade Jane Armytage 37 from Albert Liebenberg 35; and C-grade Sue Butcher 38 from Annette Danckert 36.
Deniliquin golfers performed extremely well at the Western Riverina District Golf Association championships, held at Murray Downs over the weekend.
Vince Kelly shot 73 to win the men’s championship scratch event and Jenny Swainger won the ladies scratch.
Leigh Chappell was division one men’s handicap runner-up and Graeme Rothwell the division two handicap runner-up, while Glenda Campbell won ladies’ division two scratch and Bev Purtill was division two handicap runner-up.
In the fourball best ball event at the WRDGA championships, Vicki Brunker and Prue Lloyd had an impressive eight shots win in the ladies stroke event, while Kathy Simpson teamed up with Barb Cadd from Murray Downs to win the handicap section. Jarod Sommerfeld and Leigh Chappell were runners-up on countback in the men’s stroke event.
Tomorrow is a stableford event and the ladies scramble will be played on Sunday. The normal events will continue next week: ladies 9 holes on Tuesday, men’s stableford on Wednesday and ladies will play their monthly medal on Thursday. Next Saturday is stroke and men’s monthly medal.
