Several local players and club people were recognised as among the best in the league at the Picola District Football Netball League’s night of nights on Monday.

A healthy crowd gathered at Moama Bowling Club to celebrate a bumper season for the senior teams.
A key win on the night was the Deniliquin Rovers Football Netball Club being awarded the 2026 Champion Netball Club.
The reigning Champion Netball Club award winners, it recognised that every netball side finished in the top five of the season. Four are playing in this weekend’s grand finals.
In the other off field awards, Blighty Football Netball Club led the honours with thirds coach Tim Brown winning the league’s Junior Coach of the Year and club president Rhys Tremble named Administrator of the Year.
In the player awards, Deniliquin Rovers’ Erika Martin was the only best and fairest winner from the district, in C-grade netball (23 votes).
She won by a one vote margin. The side finished minor premiers and play in a grand final against Tungamah tomorrow.
Rovers’ senior football coach and stalwart Alex Hay was also recognised for an outstanding season, finishing as runner-up best and fairest on 20 votes.
The Pearce Medal for the league’s best and fairest went to Katandra’s Bailey Bell with 33 votes.
Another Rovers’ league best and fairest runner-up was Georgia McCulloch in the B-grade netball.
McCulloch polled 23 votes following an impactful season only six votes behind Barooga’s Jade Ospray.
Also acknowledged on the night from the Rovers was Isaac Behsman as a nominee for the football rising star award, which was won by Tocumwal’s Liam Sutton.
Deni’s Tyson Willis was also a finalist in the Schifferle Transport seniors’ football incentive award, which was claimed by Waaia’s Jesse Trower.
Former Murray League and Deniliquin Rams player Rhiannan Maxwell, playing for Tocumwal in her second season, was awarded joint runner-up in the A-grade best and fairest on 27 votes, after claiming the Lukies Medal last season.
She shared the honour with Waaia’s Holly Boyd, and they were one vote behind Katandra best-and-fairest Rebecca Osmond on 28 votes.
