The wonderful work of Finley High School staff and students was celebrated at the school’s recent ag plot open day.

With preparations for the Finley and Melbourne Shows well under way at the time, the open day provided the opportunity for students to showcase the hard work and dedication that goes into preparing cattle and sheep, while giving the community the chance to get up close and personal with the agriculture program.
Before a provided lunch of beef and gravy rolls, principal Jeff Ward and ag teacher Gary Webb spoke about the ag program and thanked the many members of the community who continue to give so generously to support the students.
“Special thanks go to Melton Valley Rotary, who travelled to Finley to support the school,” Mr Ward said.
“This wonderful connection began at the Melbourne Show, where the Rotary Club generously provides meals for our students.
“The Finley Rotary Club has also continued its generous support through a significant contribution to the agriculture program.”
A major highlight of the day was the unveiling of the ‘O’Leary agricultural Learning Centre’.

Recently retired ag teacher Robyn O’Leary was on hand for the unveiling and spoke humbly about the wonderful acknowledgment of the contribution she and her husband, Michael, have made to ag at Finley High.
“Their generosity and commitment will leave a lasting legacy for generations of students,” Mr Ward said.
Following the open day, Mr Ward, Mr Webb and students Abbey Tanner and Lucy Mueller, were guests of the Finley Rotary Club at a special dinner meeting with members of the Melton Valley Rotary Club.
“Abbey and Lucy both spoke passionately about their experiences in agriculture and expressed their gratitude to both Rotary Clubs for their ongoing support,” Mr Ward said.
“Their stories highlighted the incredible opportunities that the agriculture program provides our students and the difference that strong community partnerships can make.
“Finley High School is incredibly grateful for the continued generosity, encouragement and commitment of our local community and both Rotary Clubs.”
