At a meeting on Friday, RAMJO members elected Federation Council Mayor Cr Cheryl Cook as the new chair, with Albury City Mayor Kylie King as deputy.
Both appointments are for a two-year term.
RAMJO represents 12 member councils across the Riverina and Murray regions of southern NSW, providing a collective voice on matters of strategic regional importance.
The newly elected chair and deputy chair will lead RAMJO’s ongoing advocacy and regional collaboration, with priorities including water security, regional economic development, energy affordability, digital connectivity and the financial sustainability of local government.
The board paid tribute to Cr McRae for her leadership and commitment to providing a strong, united voice for the Riverina and Murray.
During her tenure, Cr McRae championed the interests of member councils, particularly on water security and the impacts of Murray-Darling Basin reform on regional communities, while fostering cooperation across the organisation.
The Board also thanked outgoing deputy chair Cr Doug Curran, Mayor of Griffith City Council, for his valued support and contribution to regional advocacy.
“RAMJO looks forward to continuing its work with the NSW and Australian governments, member councils and regional stakeholders to advance opportunities and address the challenges facing Riverina and Murray communities,” the organisation said.
