Organised by Campaspe Cohuna Local Learning and Employment Network, St Augustine’s College will host the event on Tuesday, June 23.
It will bring together students from St Augustine’s College, Kyabram P-12 College and Rushworth P-12 College.
“Kyabram Industry Day is about exposing our students to as many career opportunities available, particularly in their local area,” CCLLEN project co-ordinator programs and partnerships Cath Elms said.
“They’re starting to think about perhaps subject selections and those first thoughts around careers and what that means in pathways, so this is that direct exposure to the industry.”
The Year 9 students will select four industries that spark their curiosity and attend 20-minute interactive workshops where they can ask questions and explore hands-on demonstrations.
“We like to keep it at that Year 9 level because this is when they’re really starting to look into that career exploration,” Ms Elms said.
“So, this is a really nice way for them to have that sort of tactile and really hands-on look at industry.
“We actually like them to have a think about the trades or the industry that they think they’re curious about and choose them based on that.”
Representatives from a broad range of industries will participate, including the defence force, police, real estate, early childhood education, aged care, journalism, architecture, engineering, mechanics and civil construction.
Community and health services such as Vivid, headspace and Kyabram District Health Service will also be on-hand to discuss disability support, healthcare and allied health.

Ms Elms said if students wanted to explore those industries through work experience and structured workplace learning, that the event helps them to understand what industries they might have access to in their local area.
“It makes the business and industry a little bit more approachable from a student perspective as well, which is always a really nice benefit of the day.”
CCLLEN is still looking to expand its line-up before the event and are encouraging more businesses in the trades sector, particularly builders, electricians and plumbers, to get involved by contacting the team on 5482 6055.
