Also participating, with a different team, will be Mr Doyle’s neighbour John Lee.
And the locals will get to showcase their community, and the wider Southern Riverina, early in the rally.
The trek begins in Albury this Saturday, May 30.
It then travels along the Murray River to Moama before heading south to Apollo Bay, then across the Bass Strait to Tasmania for a quick lap of the island.
The rally will stop in Berrigan on day one, where Mr Doyle will host rally teams on his farm before they continue on to Finley and then Moama.
Lunch will be provided by Berrigan Public School, with funds raised on the day going to the school.
This will be Mr Doyle’s fourth time joining the rally, having previously been invited by friends to join their team.
The impression the Flying Doctors has left on him during those previous rallies is apparent.
“It’s a worthwhile charity; they do incredible medical work,” he said.
“They’re everywhere, and becoming more important every year, from medical, to dental and therapy.
“It’s Australia’s most trusted charity.
“It’ll be my first time going to Tassie.
“We’ll follow the Murray, then cross on the Spirit of Tasmania and finish in Launceston for the gala dinner.”
Mr Doyle will be driving alongside Michael McCourt in a 1980s Commodore, similar to many cars he would have worked on in his youth.
“I’ve always made it in the past, not many (rally cars) fail.
“We carry a lot of spare parts.”
And Mr Doyle said he has a little extra security with his neighbour and mate Mr Lee being a mechanic.
Team Cobber last year raised a massive $191,000 for the RFDS, finishing as the top fundraising team.
“We just want to keep doing what we can, and people are very generous” Mr Doyle said.
“It’s pretty hard work, but there’s good camaraderie and similar ideas among everyone.
“I support the trek because it makes a real difference.
“It’s about helping the Flying Doctors and the communities we visit, and having a bit of fun along the dirt roads while we’re at it.”
