It was an interesting day of rugby, with the Cougars taking the field against some former Cougar players now wearing the Border Bears colours.
With familiar faces going head-to-head across both the women’s and men’s teams, there was bound to be plenty of passion, competitiveness and of course a few laughs seeing both teams leave it all out on that field.

The Cougars League Tag were hit with the flu and a few netball absentees, but 10 willing ladies went down to Glenrowan to take on the Border Bears.
From the onset the Cougars were up against it, and while the ladies managed to score some points due to a great run through Mercy Smith, with the try converted by her sister Fuchia, they never had a chance to be in the game.
Coach Goodall was more than happy with the effort from the ladies as they continue to succeed.
"The ladies were outstanding today,” Goodall said.
“They were up against it from the start, they continually turned up for each other and I couldn't be prouder with the effort they put in.
“With no reserves and an extra player against them for the whole game, they should all hold their heads up high.”

The clash opened with a huge physical battle from the first kick-off, with both sides going set for set through the opening 20 minutes in a tough arm wrestle.
Strong carries through the middle from the forwards laid the platform early, before some slick ball movement allowed the Bears to begin building pressure and adding points to the scoreboard against a fatigued and injury-hit Cougars outfit.
Despite the setbacks, the Cougars refused to go away, finding another gear in the final 10 minutes and finishing strongly.
Unfortunately, the late momentum shift came a little too late to reel the Bears back in, but there were plenty of positive signs to take from the performance.
A special mention goes to Quinton Roach, who made his senior debut for the Cougars and impressed with his tough defensive effort well beyond his size.
