Berrigan Football Netball Club’s netball sides showed determination, depth and strong team spirit in their opening round clash against Rennie, with plenty of positives to take despite several tough results.

The A-grade side delivered a standout performance, leading for most of the match before narrowly going down by a single goal in a thrilling finish.
B-grade also impressed with their versatility and willingness to adapt, while C-grade showed encouraging signs after settling into the contest.
C-reserve provided the highlight of the day, securing a convincing win through a disciplined and complete team performance.
Across the junior grades, the focus was firmly on development, with many players stepping up into new age groups or making their senior debuts. The Under 17s, 15s and 13s all showed strong effort and promising combinations, while the Under 11s displayed enthusiasm and growth across both of their matches.
With multiple players backing up across grades and several debutants taking the court, Berrigan demonstrated strong club depth and unity. While results didn’t fall their way in most grades, the overall performance reflects a positive foundation to build on as the season progresses.
A-grade: Berrigan 36 def by Rennie 37
This was always going to be a tough contest, but the side delivered a strong team performance. With several players backing up and taking the court for two games, the effort, determination, and resilience shown across all four quarters was outstanding.
The team worked cohesively, moved the ball well, and maintained pressure throughout the match. Berrigan held the lead for most of the game, before going down by just one goal.

B-grade: Berrigan 24 def by Rennie 37
The B-grade girls came out firing, showing incredible versatility and a real team-first attitude, with players willing to step into any position and work together.
It was a hard-fought contest right through to the final whistle, with plenty of positives and valuable takeaways from the game.
With seven positions needing to be filled, there was great support from the Under-17s stepping up and A-grade players coming down, and they all played an outstanding role in the match.
The effort, commitment, and willingness to work for each other couldn’t be faulted.

It took a quarter for the girls to find their feet and settle into a strong rhythm, but once they did, there were plenty of positives to take from the game.
A special mention to Channy Henderson, who dusted off the shoes after five years and returned with a ripper performance.
The side also welcomed Darcie Smith for her senior debut, who fitted in seamlessly in defence, along with Maddie Rice, whose speed and composure through the midcourt made a real impact.
Not a bad first hit-out and with a few more games under the belt, this group is shaping up to be a really solid unit.

A phenomenal game to kick off the season! From the first whistle, it was a complete team performance.
The girls executed the game plan perfectly, with every player giving 110 per cent effort right across the court.
The intensity, teamwork, and commitment were outstanding all game.
A big welcome to Rosie Phillips and Marley Carlson on their senior debut, both stepped up confidently and fitted into the side beautifully.
It was a fantastic win to start the season, and a performance the whole team should be incredibly proud of, in what is shaping up to be an exciting season ahead.

It was a strong start, with lots of positive and confident plays right across the court. Rosie Phillips kept the defence strong all game.
The team looks forward to working on many areas to keep improving.

Under-15s: Berrigan 12 def by Rennie 34
A fantastic first game back, with a great mix of new players to the club and girls stepping up from the U13s.
It was exciting to see how well everyone came together as a team.
The defensive pressure across the court was on point, with the girls showed great effort and determination.
The girls played with great teamwork and enthusiasm, and most importantly, enjoyed their netball. It promises to be a great season ahead.

Under-13s: Berrigan 4 def by Rennie 30
The girls showed plenty of enthusiasm and teamwork from the first whistle and did a fantastic job clearing the ball. A great first hit-out for the team, and the club is excited to see their development continue throughout the season.

The first game of the season for the baby Saints was very exciting. Alexis Trewhella and Ava Ford were able to get into great positions.
Rachel Wiencke shot the side’s only goal in her very first game! It was this and her relentless pressure that earned her the Hustle cap.
In game two, the girls had tough opposition in the tall and well drilled Rennie side; however, they worked as a team to put up a good fight.
Lillie Martin and Hollie Flynn worked tirelessly in defence all game and stopped Rennie running away with it. All the hard work at training was evident with the focus on footwork and passes.
