In ideal winter conditions there was exciting racing on the five-race program.
Training honours went to Wangaratta trainers, with doubles to John and Chris Ledger, as well as Dan McCarthy. Riding honours were with Wangaratta apprentice Alice Kennedy with a double.
The Ledgers and Kennedy teamed up in the first event, an 1100m maiden, with Light The Stage, a Magnus mare having her first start from a spell after previously being unplaced in three career starts.
Race two was the Brian Dorman Memorial Benchmark 50, which saw the continued dominance from Wangaratta gallopers when the Ashleigh Smith trained Add Milk, starting an outsider of the field at 13-1, scored by over a length to Rowdy Anthem, with 3.30 favourite Deep Joy in third place.
The third event was a 1400m Maiden Handicap, taken out by the Dan McCarthy trained Barrett Reef, with Brodie Loy in the saddle.
In the Robbie Saunders Memorial Benchmark 50 the winner was again from the Dan McCarthy stable, with Black Adam ridden by Alice Kennedy scoring narrowly from Savethebestillast with Majestic Deel in third place.
The final event was the Bernard Curtain Tribute Benchmark 50 over 1600m, won by Ledger trained Captain Barbossa, ridden by Brody Loy at $3.20.
