One could have been mistaken for thinking they had stepped into a scene from Scotland when visiting the Anglican Parish of the Newell annual Finley Fete on Saturday.

The theme of the day was Tartan and this fabric, in all its colours and forms, was well and truly apparent, from tartan ties, tartan kilts, scarves and caps.
Father Frederik and Reverend Gemma lived up to their reputation and responded magnificently, as did many of the Anglican parishioners. Helen Cooling was proud to include one of her mother’s brooches to hold her scarf in place.
There were a variety of stalls such as fresh produce, cakes, plants, craft, face painting, money tree and more and the donuts being cooked by Jacqui Lewis and Beth Hatty were to die for.
Greg McNamara was the lucky winner of the handmade mosaic pot plant which was the very popular raffle prize.
Father Frederik declared the fete a complete success and would like to thank all those who worked so hard and long to provide for the fete and those who went along to support the occasion.
