Funding boost for region’s sport projects

The Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is set to support the Harley Hammond Reserve tennis court reconstruction project.

Two Mitchell Shire sporting facilities will receive funding boosts as part of an $18 million state infrastructure investment.

A total of five northern Victorian sporting projects have secured government funding through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund, including those in Greater Shepparton, Campaspe Shire and Strathbogie Shire.

Mitchell Shire Council has been allocated $500,000 for the Harley Hammond Reserve tennis court reconstruction project, and an additional $37,500 to plan upgrades at the Pyalong Recreation Reserve Hall.

“Congratulations to Broadford Tennis Club, Euroa Lawn Tennis Club, Shepparton East Football Club and Pyalong Cricket Club – this boost will go a long way to support the growing number of people across the region keen to get involved in local sport,” state Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said.

“It’s a great example of how the Allan Labor Government is making sport and recreation more accessible, welcoming and inclusive for all Victorians.”

Seventy-eight projects statewide have received support through this latest round of the fund.
