Confirmed at 2pm yesterday, as the Southern Riverina News was going to print, it includes People First Party candidate Jamie Bonnefin who announced his candidacy on Friday.
Other appearing on the list at the last minute yesterday were Aimee Lee Pearson from the Legalise Cannabis Party, Independent Roger Woodward and Peter Sinclair from the Shooters, Fishers & Farmers Party.
Mr Bonnefin is a contender with a background in small business, architecture and community leadership.
A father of two and business owner, he said his decision to enter public life has been shaped by a long‑standing connection to regional Australia and a desire to contribute to the country his children will grow up in.
While he lives on the Central Coast now, Mr Bonnefin spent his early childhood years in Wilcannia, where his father worked.
He says those formative years gave him an enduring understanding of the challenges faced by country communities and the importance of ensuring their concerns are heard at a national level.
Outlining his motivation for contesting the seat, Mr Bonnefin said he wants to apply both creativity and leadership to deliver tangible outcomes for people and places, not just physical infrastructure.
“Fatherhood has shifted my focus from short-term thinking to long term responsibility,” he said.
“I’ve started asking different questions. Not just about what works today, but what kind of country will my sons grow up in?
“This is a huge driver for me. I realise that entering politics is a significant commitment, not just for me, but also for my wife Ilvy and our sons.
“You might wonder why a bloke living on the Central Coast with a young family would be putting their hand up to stand for the people of Farrer? It’s a fair question.
“My roots are in the country and as a proud New South Welshman who has travelled extensively across our nation, I feel a deep connection to our land and its people.
“People First Party is about practical actions and outcomes that will deliver direct benefits and improve our quality of life on a daily basis.
“We are committed to putting the Australian people back at the centre of decision making. Where you belong.”
According to the People First Party, its platform emphasises practical actions and measurable outcomes, with a focus on placing Australians at the centre of decision‑making.
Mr Bonnefin said he believes the people of Farrer “deserve someone who will listen to what you really need,” while also bringing a fresh perspective informed by both regional roots and wider national experience.
The official ballot draw was not released at the time of publishing yesterday.
