Dr Alam emphasised that anything that is good for other parts of your body is good for your brain.
If you do things to help your breathing, your general fitness and flexibility, your bones and other parts of your body, each of these will help your brain.
He also stated that we should not expect that some magic pill will be developed that will improve our brains. There is currently no indication that this will ever happen.
Dr Alam handled questions from the attendees in his normal relaxed and precise style.

Finley Garden Club members enjoyed the October meeting at Kranky Birdz Cobram.
Following the business of the meeting being dealt with, a lovely afternoon was spent looking at a much-loved productive garden, including 10 bee hives.
A jar of golden honey was available for any member wishing to purchase.
Fifty-four chooks were resident in the orchard and vegetable yard at the end of the garden.
Host Debbie Longshaw supplied a delicious afternoon tea and informed those present of the memorial garden, which was established after the passing of their 14 year-old daughter.
This garden has so many interesting plants, the seasonal growth and colour would be amazing.
Kranky Birdz is open by appointment to anyone, and proceeds of sales are contributed to the McGrath Foundation.
Finley Garden Club president, Kathy Haigh, presented Debbie and her partner with a small gift and thanked them for having the group.
The club’s next meeting will be at Tocumwal Advanced Plants, on Monday, November 2 and new members are most welcome.
