Over the four day, multi-agency search on the Murray River, police were being assisted by NSW State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers from Tocumwal and Deniliquin, and Marine Rescue NSW from Moama.
The 39 year-old was last seen at Pebbly Beach campground on the Victorian side of the Murray River about 10.30am on Friday.
It is believed he set out fishing in a small boat around noon.
Marine Rescue NSW volunteers and a vessel from Moama returned to the water on Monday morning to assist NSW Police divers involved in the operation.
Following a briefing at Tocumwal Police Station on Saturday, search crews spent several hours combing the river aboard Marine Rescue vessel Moama 20 at the request of NSW Police.
A second vessel, Moama 21, was deployed on Sunday to bolster the operation.
Inspector Sullivan said Moama 21 provided a larger platform for police operations on the river.
Murray River Police District Chief Inspector Paul Huggett told the ABC that the alarm for the man was raised after a witness heard cries for help on Friday.
“He went to investigate shortly after and found a small tinny type of boat that was just essentially skipper-less and running around in circles on the Murray,” Chief Insp Huggett said.
In a statement, NSW SES acknowledged the efforts of volunteers and partner agencies involved in the search.
“Thank you to our volunteers and partner agencies for their efforts during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the missing person’s family and friends.”
