Police said the man’s car was discovered on Barooga Rd about 6.30am Monday.
The passing motorist alerted emergency services, but the man, aged in his 50s, was unable to be saved.
Police confirmed the man was the sole occupant of the car.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy, said three of the four fatalities to that point had occurred on country roads, during the police operation Stay Alert.
‘‘I would like to remind regional drivers that no matter how well you think you might know a stretch of road that crashes can occur at anytime and anywhere,’’ he said.
‘‘You need to be prepared for the unexpected and drive to conditions.’’
