Echuca’s senior football side moved a step closer to the Goulburn Valley League grand final after it knocked off minor premier Shepparton 16.7 (103) to 11.7 (73) in a qualifying final.
The Murray Bombers also won their A-grade netball final against the Bears, with Bronwyn Slater’s side eliminating Shepparton from contention with a 71-55 win.
In the Murray Football Netball League, Tongala had both of its teams win elimination finals at Moama Recreation Reserve.
The Blues’ footballers shocked Mulwala in a 9.13 (67) to 7.19 (61) triumph, while their netballers progressed with a 57-49 win over Numurkah.
Local involvement in the Murray league finals will continue at 1.30pm today at Tongala Recreation Reserve when Moama faces Rumbalara in the other A-grade netball elimination final.
In the Heathcote District Football Netball League, all three of Lockington-Bamawm United’s lower grade football sides won their preliminary finals yesterday.
The Cats’ under-15s defeated Heathcote 4.8 (32) to 2.6 (18), their under-18s bested White Hills 14.6 (90) to 5.4 (34) and the reserves prevailed over Huntly 9.9 (63) to 8.10 (58).
LBU’s under-13 netball side also booked its spot in a grand final after a 36-30 win over Mount Pleasant, though the Cats lost the same match-up in the under-17 competition, going down 58-37.
Finally, to the Picola District Netball League, where all local senior teams have now finished their seasons after Picola United’s C-reserve side lost its semi-final to Katandra 31-30.
In the junior grades, Mathoura’s under-13s were knocked out after a 24-15 loss to Jerilderie, though the Timbercutters’ under-15s have reached a preliminary final after defeating Tocumwal 27-23.
