A fresh Kyabram District Tennis Association season got under way at the weekend and after an influx of talent Girgarre is looking to make its mark.
Expanding to two teams in the senior grade, Girgarre Blue knocked off last year’s grand finalist Kyvalley Black four sets to two, 39-31 on games, to make clear its credentials.
Girgarre White fared less well against the premier Kyvalley Red, securing five games as Red claimed all six sets, three of them 8-0.
The regular season will run until February 27, with preliminary finals on March 14 and the grand final on March 21.
There will be no play on Halloween, October 31, or Labour day weekend, Saturday, March 6.
The Christmas break will begin after the round on December 12, with play returning on January 31.
