It might not have ended with grand final appearances, but there were individual seasons to remember for star Kats of the Picola District Football Netball League.

Katandra owned the best-and-fairest night in the top grades after an unbeaten home and away year in the senior football and a 14-2 season in the A-grade netball.
Kats midfielder Bailey Bell finished on top of the Pearce Medal count, polling 33 votes, while Katandra coach Jason Whittaker came away with the Senior Coach of the Year award after the undefeated campaign prior to finals.
Bell kicked 31 goals and was named in the best 13 times from 16 appearances in Katandra’s untouchable home and away campaign.
The silverware didn’t stop across sporting codes either.
Katandra’s goal keeper Rebecca Osmond finished first in the Lukies Medal race with 28 votes after a dominant defensive season.

While the Kats were heartbreakingly bundled out in straight sets after consecutive three-goal losses, Osmond was rock solid across the regular season as the Kats recorded the fifth-best defensive record.
In other results, Barooga’s Riley Gow claimed the leading goal-kicker award after a season that yielded 91 majors, his tally hitting triple figures (101) after the Hawks’ finals campaign ended in a preliminary final exit.
Meanwhile, Tungamah’s Stacey Parks won Netball Coach of the Year after the Bears finished with a minor premiership in A-grade, albeit they too were eliminated on preliminary final weekend.
The grand finals are scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at Mathoura Recreation Reserve, where Waaia versus Katamatite for senior football glory and Dookie United takes on Deniliquin for the A-grade title.
