A-grade had a loss on the weekend against Deni in very warm conditions.
The girls all fought hard against a very skilful team and didn’t make it easy for them, putting pressure on all over the court.
Eden Hercus and Ruby Neessen were great in goals, with Eden standing tall while Ruby moved around efficiently in the ring.
Miley Conn, Siobhan Flanagan, Belle Westwood and Zara Williams worked hard through the midcourt, moving well and applying plenty of pressure.
Ella Arnold and Tianni Given were strong in defence, collecting rebounds and interceptions against some very accurate Deni shooters.
It was a very warm day for a winter sport, and the girls gave their best against a very good team.
B-grade: Deni Rovers 53 def Jerilderie 38.
B-grade delivered a fantastic performance this week, showing great determination and teamwork across the court.
A special mention to our award winners.
Tanya Rorato was absolutely on fire in the shooting circle, confidently converting goals and keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Her accuracy and composure made a huge impact on the game.
Heidi Bryce was unstoppable through the centre, working tirelessly to transition the ball down the court and creating numerous opportunities with her impressive intercepts. Her energy and presence were felt in every passage of play.
A big welcome to Britt Talbot, who made an immediate impact in her first game. Using her height to our advantage, she dominated in rebounds and picked off several key intercepts.
C-grade: Deni Rovers 47 def Jerilderie 22.
The girls put in a strong performance against Deniliquin, showing great determination across the court.
The midcourt worked tirelessly, creating plenty of opportunities and driving the ball well.
Defensively, the team was outstanding, applying constant pressure and making it difficult for Deniliquin to score easily.
The shooting end also performed well, converting consistently under pressure.
Despite the effort and teamwork, Jerilderie went down to Deniliquin Rovers, but it was a game full of positives and great signs for the season ahead.
C-reserve: Deni Rovers 51 def Jerilderie 11.
It was a hot and sunny encounter at Deni which saw the C-reserve girls face a very strong opponent.
Credit to the team; everyone played their part, kept a positive attitude and still had a smile on their face at the end.
Recognition must go to our defending superstars Carina Rorato, Lauren Hall and Sienna Reid who worked tirelessly all day pulling in rebounds and getting turnovers.
The last quarter saw some vintage goaling from Carina and a GA debutant Sarah Guciullo scored her first ever goal!
Carina took home the best on court for her outstanding defence and shooting, Rebecca Mitchell earned the Colony Inn award for her speed and pressure through the midcourt, and Ella Breen worked her hardest in every corner of the court to take home the Medical Centre award.
Overall, the scoreboard did not reflect the hard work done by all.
Under-17s: Deni Rovers 51 def Jerilderie 11.
It was a hot day out on the court, and coming up against one of the top teams in the league, we knew it was going to be a real challenge.
That was exactly our mindset going in. We wanted to test ourselves, push our limits, and see how we measured up.
From the first whistle, the team showed they were up for it.
We made a few position changes throughout the game, but every player adjusted quickly and took it in their stride.
In the defensive end it was tough, with constant pressure, but the defenders fought hard for every contest and never gave up.
Through the midcourt, the work rate was outstanding. Despite the heat, they ran it out all game, creating plenty of options.
The passing into the ring was strong and accurate, giving our shooters every opportunity to convert.
Just as impressive was the level of communication. There was great talk across the court, with players constantly supporting and guiding each other.
Under-15s: Deni Rovers 42 def Jerilderie 11.
Despite going down 42 to 11 to a strong side from Deni, the under-15s showed plenty of determination and grit throughout the contest.
The girls came out strong and held their own for much of the game, applying consistent defensive pressure and never dropping their intensity.
Best on court Lexie Bryce led the way in defence with an outstanding performance, collecting multiple intercepts that quickly turned into scoring opportunities for Jerilderie.
Through the midcourt, Pippa Shaw and Lexie Bryce worked tirelessly up and down the court, providing strong leads and delivering several well-timed assists into the shooters.
In the goal ring, Sama Swaid and Jacinta Eldridge battled hard and held their own against a tough opposition, showing composure and persistence throughout the match.
While Deni proved too strong on the day, Jerilderie’s effort never faltered.
The second half was particularly impressive, with Ivy Conn introduced into defence and Harriet Walker stepping up to play her first under-15s game in attack.
Both girls made an immediate impact with their pressure, drive, and determination, earning themselves this week’s awards.
Under-13s: Deni Rovers 28 def Jerilderie 15.
The under-13s Dees delivered a determined performance against a well-drilled Deni side, holding their ground and applying consistent pressure from start to finish.
Despite a number of positional changes, the team adapted well and worked hard across the court, creating strong intercepts and some promising passages of play.
While the scoreboard didn’t fall Jerilderie’s way, the Dees showed great effort and resilience across all four quarters, continuing to build each week.
Under-11s: Not scored.
It’s hard to believe we are only a few games into the season when you look at the standard of play this team is already producing.
The girls are showing great teamwork, growing confidence, and a strong understanding of the game well beyond their experience.
Norah Marshall, who stood out in her first game of the season with an impressive performance, jumped straight in and made her presence felt across the court.
Odette ‘Pinky’ McGuinness was outstanding in the shooting circle, converting opportunities with confidence and composure under pressure.
Annabel Ham was a versatile player, adapting seamlessly to different positions and giving her all wherever she was needed.
Harper Bryce was a force in defence, applying strong pressure and making it difficult for the opposition to score.
