Local stars cleaned up the major awards for the Pioneers girls program.
Echuca United’s Sage Dennis was named the club’s best-and-fairest for season 2026.
The Eagles’ midfield dynamo was named among the Pioneers’ best players in 10 of the 12 Coates Talent League games she suited up for.
Echuca United products are not just the Pioneers’ present but the future as well as fellow Eagle Harper Delamare was named the girls rising star.
Still eligible for the under-16 side, Delamare featured 10 times for the Pios and was among the best on five occasions.
This year also saw her named the Victoria Country MVP at the under-16 AFL National Development Championships.
Rounding out the local trio was Moama’s Beth Morris who was named the squad’s players’ player.
Morris was one of the Pioneers’ best in eight of her 12 appearances and also represented Vic Country at the under-18 National Championships in June and July.
In other Pioneers news, further up-and-coming talents were selected on Tuesday, August 25, to feature in the premier under-15 development competition, the V-Line Cup.
Five Echuca United girls were selected for the Pioneers squad, Jordi Cain, Jada Dennis, Jordi Howe, Isabella Nathan and Mia Siede.
Moama’s Ruby Reardon also made the cut.
On the boys’ side, Echuca’s Taj Maddox, Marlon Micalizzi, Max Potter and Arli Walker were given the nod.
The cup will be held from September 21 to 23 in Gippsland.
