The upgrade includes a dedicated infection-control area, helping to protect patients and staff and support safer care for everyone undergoing surgery, along with new storage areas for medical equipment and other essential hospital supplies.
The project has also delivered space for a second operating theatre in the future, allowing Seymour Health to expand its surgical services as the community grows.
The upgrade was funded through the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, which supports rural and regional health services to modernise their facilities.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the investment would support high-quality local healthcare.
“This upgrade will give Seymour Health staff the modern facilities they need to deliver safer and more efficient surgical care,” Ms Symes said.
“We’re investing in regional hospitals so Victorians can access high-quality healthcare closer to home.”
The fund, which was established in 2016, has invested $865 million in more than 700 projects, including upgraded operating theatres, new hospital beds, consulting rooms and modern medical equipment.
