In a coordinated effort, students were divided into two groups to ensure the entire community could be reached.
A walking group visited local businesses along the main street, while a dedicated car crew travelled further afield to deliver biscuits to those who could not be reached on foot.

The initiative ensured that no part of the Jerilderie community was left out of this meaningful occasion.
The deliveries sparked warm and engaging conversations between students and community members.
Students confidently shared their learning about Anzac Day, recounting the historical significance of ANZAC biscuits and explaining that they were sent to soldiers during wartime because of their long shelf life.
For many recipients, the gesture was both nostalgic and deeply appreciated, with stories and reflections exchanged that bridged generations.
The initiative, developed by JPS staff, reflects the school’s commitment to connecting learning with authentic community experiences and fostering a strong sense of respect and service.
Principal Laura Keech said the experience was a powerful moment of pride for staff.
The Murrumbidgee Council staff were happy to receive ANZAC biscuits as part of the community project.
“Our staff are incredibly proud of our students and the way they represented our school and community,” she said.
“They spoke with confidence, showed genuine respect, and engaged so thoughtfully with those they met. It was wonderful to see their learning come to life in such a meaningful way, while spreading kindness and connection throughout Jerilderie.”
The commemorative activities continued the following day, as students participated in the ANZAC Day march through Jerilderie.
Walking alongside community members, students demonstrated respect and pride before gathering at the cenotaph, where they paused for a moment of quiet reflection to honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served.
The combined efforts of both days highlighted the strong sense of community in Jerilderie and the important role young people play in preserving and honouring Australia’s history.
Jerilderie Public School continues to excel with honour, fostering not only academic growth but also a deep respect for community, history, and shared values.
