As reported previously, extensive renovations have been carried out at the precinct.
The committee is excited to be hosting the day, to give community members the opportunity to learn about the beginning of Finley’s own railway station; how unique it is and how the railway affected the beginning of Finley.
New displays are up and all are welcome to walk the trail of the precinct to see many structures, still largely intact, from Finley’s railway era.
Further information can be obtained by contacting Syd Dudley on (03) 5883 1677.
Afternoon tea is provided.

Organisers of the Finley RSL Sub-branch street stall held last Friday would like to thank everyone for the great support given by donations of saleable goods (lots of yummy cooking) and those who took time to call by and purchase these.
As usual, the jams, pickles etc. made by Lorraine Edwards were in high demand, as were the sponges made by Pat Radford.
These two ladies have been working particularly hard for many years to make the street stalls financially successful, and Paul Sugden is to be congratulated on his participation to help the ladies set up and take down the stall.
Winners of the four raffle prizes were Kaylene Dawe (single bed sized crocheted rug); Jill Russell (large basket of goodies); Tony Scoullar (the smaller hamper) and Kurt Wall (basket of tech gear).

No doubt the special sale taking place from this Friday, May 1 to Saturday, May 16 will draw many customers to the Finley Hospital Op Shop for the unbeatable bargains.
For a donation, customers can get all the clothing they can manage to take! Priced items not included.
Due to an abundance of generous donations, the Finley Hospital Auxiliary find themselves in a position of having an excess of clothing to deal with; all to the benefit of the public.
So be sure to call in to the Op Shop, have a chat with the lovely volunteers, see how much clothing you can handle; make a donation and enjoy the results.

Finley Lions Club is well known for the hard work carried out to keep the Finley cemetery in pristine condition.
However, there is one member who spends an enormous amount of time attending to watering and other constant jobs that keep popping up.
Unfortunately, people who obviously have no pride in our local community are stealing hoses and construction gear put in place to save the hoses from being run over.
This is becoming very frustrating and making it harder to attend to maintenance and costly to replace the stolen goods.
Members of the public are asked if they see someone carrying out theft or destruction at the cemetery, please report these incidents to the police immediately.

The executive of Finley Art Network would like to issue an invitation to members of the local communities and visitors to the area, to call in to the gallery in Denison St to examine the incredible artwork carried out by local members.
Works in progress, as well as completed items which are displayed on the walls of the gallery, make a great display for visitors and, of course, new members who are most welcome to join the group.
Coffee and tea, as well as a biscuit, will also be on offer to visitors.
The group’s Mother’s Day raffle will begin soon at Finley IGA, and the organisers would like to thank the members and others who have made donations, including the management of the Tuppal Hotel, who have added a dinner for two to the prize.
These raffles are most important as income to meet expenses such as electricity etc. including the cost of running the heating and cooling system generously supplied by Berrigan Shire Council.
Membership is kept at a reasonable cost and just $2 per day charged for workshops at the gallery, which is used to supply tea and coffee.
The Art Network was delighted to host a recent visit from the Berrigan Uniting Aged Care ladies and gentlemen from the home to afternoon tea, supplied by the members, and an inspection of the gallery.
A lovely rendition of Danny Boy was delivered by Greg Findlay which was well received by the members and visitors who appeared to enjoy the outing.

At the April ‘Unlocking Hope’ presentation all attendees were closely involved with the panel which comprised Therese Macdermid, Alison Luelf and Sally Carrington.
There was a valuable in depth sharing of personal experiences of dealing with people with dementia and memory loss, both by the panel and by the other attendees.
All present agreed that it was an extremely valuable meeting.
The planning for the next presentation, expected to be on Tuesday, May 19, is to have a diabetes educator talk on the close relationship between diabetes and dementia.

Don’t forget, the Finley Lions Club members will return to selling tickets for the wood raffle this Saturday, May 2.
This is a great way to support the Lions Club while having the opportunity to win a load of wood, which will be handy with winter coming on.
