With a couple of senior players unavailable the Bloods won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first.
An early wicket to the Tigers had them on top but a determined partnership between Ranji Oliver (36) and Rahul Thakur (27) ensured Cobram were out in the field for the duration.
The pair batted smartly and added 57 for the second wicket with the combination negotiating some good Cobram bowling.
With the overs winding down the wickets began to fall but veteran Andrew Jones (18 not out) hit two glorious sixes to the delight of the Bloods’ team as they reached 6/109 from their allotted overs.
The Tigers were keen to get the win as quickly as possible.
Despite skipper Chris Shaw (1/28 off five) taking an early pole the Tigers were in a dominant mood with Wian Van Zyl (74 not out) and Jimmy Daniel (21 not out) plundering the Bloods attack. The Tigers cruised home with a nine wicket win after 18.2 overs.
The Bloods will hope to bounce back with a win against Barooga on Saturday.
The Division One Bloods secured their first win of the season with a five wicket victory over Barooga on Saturday.
Batting first the Hawks reached 142 with Aaron Macfadyen the star with the ball taking 5/24 off eight in a brilliant spell to rock the visitors’ batting.
In reply the Bloods were in command from the start with a superb 76 run opening stanza from Brandon Meloury (31) and Dean Cole (31) setting the platform.
The pair batted beautifully, both hitting two fours and a six in their knock.
When both men departed the runs continued to tick along and put the Hawks under pressure.
Josh Macfadyen (12) and Aaron Macfadyen (15) both got starts before it was left to skipper Dale Chandler (19 not out) and Brett Dicker (10) to get the Bloods home.
The Bloods travel to Katamatite on Saturday.
