Power pole catches alight

Brigade Captain Martin Smith said the most likely cause was arcing following the day’s light rains.

“We attended with two appliances and nine firefighters, and used the appliances to block off the road for the safety firefighters and Essential Energy crews.

“We remained on site until Essential Energy were on site.

“The road was closed for about 30 minutes.”
