Nationals Ovens Valley MP, Tim McCurdy announced the commitment today (Monday, October 7).
He said a new station would provide modern, purpose-built facilities for CFA volunteers, equipment and emergency response operations, strengthening the capability of emergency services across the growing Yarrawonga community.
Mr McCurdy said Yarrawonga’s emergency services needed facilities that could meet the demands of a growing community.
“Yarrawonga is a growing community, and our emergency services need facilities that are fit for purpose and ready to meet the needs of the future,” he said.
“Our CFA volunteers provide an essential service to this community.
“They give their time, respond during emergencies and work to keep local families, businesses and properties safe.
“They deserve a modern facility that properly supports them in carrying out that important work ... this is about making sure Yarrawonga gets its fair share and our local volunteers have the facilities they need to keep the community safe.”
Mr McCurdy said investing in local emergency services was essential to building stronger and more resilient regional communities.
