It recognises his many years of service in various areas of the organisation.
Mark came to Finley in 1999 and soon became involved with the club. He served as chairman of selectors under coach John Bickerton; team manager of the senior football side; assistant coach of the thirds in 2006 and 2013, which were both premiership-winning seasons; coached the fourths to a premiership in 2010; and coached the reserves in 2014 and 2015.
Mark also became a timekeeper, goal umpire and bar manager. His contribution behind the scenes has been important.
He continues to ensure the oval stays green and looking its best, taking care of the irrigation system and making sure the ground receives the water it needs.
At the presentation, president Matt Clarke spoke highly of Mark while pointing out the assistance he gives to the club.
“Sunday morning clean-ups? Mark is generally one of the first there. Whether it is fundraising, match-day duties or helping around the grounds, he has always been prepared to get involved and do whatever needs to be done.
“Congratulations on becoming our newest life member, Mark. Thank you for everything you have done, and continue to do, for the Finley Football and Netball Club” Matt said.

Plans by the Finley RSL Sub-branch are well underway for the annual Remembrance Day service to be held at Finley Memorial Park on November 11, from 11am.
Remembrance Day is not a glorification of war or politics but a way of remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in all conflicts of war and those still serving to ensure we have the freedom we enjoy today.
It is hoped that as many members of the community as possible can attend to show our appreciation.

A wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors, learn new fishing skills and connect with the local community will take place on Sunday October 18 at the Finley Lake car park, off the Riverina Highway, between 10am and 2pm.
This event is being organised by the Tocumwal Angling Club and president Chiqueta McNicol said: “We look forward to seeing you there for a fun-filled day of fishing, learning and community spirit. Everyone is welcome.”
There will be plenty of activities with fishing fun for children of all ages; free giveaways for the kids; prizes to be won and experienced club members on site to help children set up fishing rods, learn casting techniques and catch fish safely and confidently.
Food will be available on the day with sausages in bread and cold drinks. A food van will also be on site throughout the day.
This is a great opportunity to take the family along and enjoy a fun-filled day by the water. Maybe an opportunity to also talk about “the one that got away”?

Finley Arts Network members were delighted with the response to the exhibition of Halina Wultz’s paintings held last Saturday at the Art Gallery.
Morning and afternoon tea were provided by the members and Halina’s paintings, on exhibition for one month, proved very popular.
The day also saw some financial gain, providing funds allowing the expenses of the gallery to be met.
The number of visitors taking the opportunity to examine the amazing work done by local artists was encouraging and Pam Angove, an avid artist, was delighted to have her sister Brenda Sutton make the trip from Deniliquin to attend the exhibition.
The Arts Network is open to all those interested in various forms of art; not just painting. One ‘work in progress’ is a table being restored by Rose Stenner and Gail Jolly.
Gift cards are also made on the premises and available for purchase.
The gallery is open at 10.30am on Saturdays and 1pm on Tuesdays at 78 Denison S, with new members always welcome.
