The street stall held by Finley Regional Care Auxiliary last Friday was an outstanding success and the members would like to thank the community for its continuing support and all those who helped with the roster.

The Father’s Day raffle proved popular with the winners delighted with their prizes.
The Dave the Detailer voucher valued at $250 was won by Marg Nesbit, with Don McKellar taking home the second prize of a Country Road weekender bag and toiletry bag.
The third prize, a Country Road cap and socks set, was won by Simon Cooper.
The next major fundraiser for the auxiliary is the Finley Springtime Open Gardens which will be held on Sunday, November 8, with six beautiful gardens in and around Finley to explore.
Tickets are $20 per person with children admitted free. This includes entry to all six gardens and a complimentary morning tea. Light lunches will be available to purchase.
There will also be a variety of stalls and raffles, so be sure to keep this date free to spend an enjoyable day in beautiful surroundings.
Tickets and garden maps will be available from 9am on the day at the Finley School of Arts, Murray St.
All proceeds will be used to provide extra facilities to ensure the comfort of residents of Finley Regional Care.

Just a reminder that Finley Public School P&C will host a High Tea fundraiser on Sunday, September 27 at the School of Arts Hall with guest speaker and acclaimed author, Rosalie Ham in attendance.
The doors will open at 2pm for a 2.30pm start.
Tickets are $50 which includes a glass of champagne on arrival, catered High Tea and presentation by the guest speaker, and are available via the P&C Facebook page.

Finley Local Health Advisory Committee members would like to advise that ‘Dying to Know Day 2026’ will be held on Monday, September 21 at the Finley RS Club at 10am and finishing about 12pm.
Murrumbidgee Local Health District and Finley LHAC have combined to provide a specialist palliative care team for an information session for adults at all stages of life.
The discussion will include advice on how to have conversations and improve knowledge around choices for end-of-life.
Subjects covered will include palliative care - what this means and what it looks like; advance care planning - planning for your future health care; enduring guardianship - directing decision-making; and preparing a will.

One can always tell when the AFL grand final is approaching by keeping an eye on the activities of the Finley Probus Club.
The meeting on Tuesday, September 1 saw most members arriving at the Uniting Church Hall dressed in the colours of various major football teams.
They obviously went to a lot of trouble with their attire, no doubt visiting the local Op Shops beforehand.
Guest speaker was Jack Sexton, coach of the Finley Football Netball Club’s senior side, who gave an entertaining and enlightening speech on his involvement with the club.
Jack stressed the importance of involving local young people and being able to make good decisions.
Probus is marking a significant milestone in 2026, celebrating 50 years of bringing people together through local clubs built on friendship, connection and shared interests.
Finley Probus Club has been active for 26 years, ensuring people have a place to connect, form friendships and enjoy life beyond work.
Berrigan Shire councillors took the opportunity to host a morning tea for members of Finley and Tocumwal Probus Clubs following the council meeting on August 19.

The Finley High School ag open day held on August 31 was well attended, and an opportunity for two Rotary Clubs to demonstrate continued support for our local high school students and support staff.
Finley Rotary Club has been supporting the students for some time.
The Rotary Club of Melton Valley members who operate the barbecue for exhibitors at the Melbourne Show have been so impressed by the Finley High School students and staff, they wanted to also donate towards the costs for Finley High School to exhibit at the show this year.
Both clubs donated $5000 each.
Ag teacher Gary Webb said this would enable more students to participate as part of the Melbourne show team.
The students’ manners, attitude and dedication have stood out, and a strong relationship has been forged.
Most of the Melton Valley members attended the open day, and president Michael Dowling and three members also stayed for the Rotary meeting on Monday night.
As a result of their shared commitment for Finley High, the two clubs have now formed a strong bond.

The wonderful volunteers from the Finley Lions Club braved the cold and wet conditions on Saturday morning for the second last week of the 2026 wood raffle sessions. Peter Wood was the lucky winner.
This Saturday, September 12 will be the last draw, with a trailer load of wood and a handmade wood burner to be won.
All tickets purchased during the season will be included in the draw.
