The day is designed to celebrate Australia’s farm sector, and provide a chance to learn more about the industry.
Event organiser Kelly Findlay gathered a group of locals to raise that awareness, and they served 350 sausages on Thursday.
“It was a good day. The community really pulled together and it couldn't have been done without everyone's support,” she said.
“We had a rocky start with the weather being so hot and people had concerns, but the fire brigade gave us the okay to go ahead with our barbecue.
“We had 150 people come across for lunch throughout the day and handed out more than 350 sausages. Many of them were prepared for the two primary schools who sent a teacher to collected the students’ lunch in bulk to take back to school.
“It was too hot for the children to come down themselves.
“St Joseph's Finley and Finley Public School students did such a good job with the posters, which we put out around the street Thursday morning.”
Education materials were sent to both schools before the day, and Ms Findlay said St Joseph's also went to the trouble of dressing as farmers for the special day.
“They looked great and their school garden is very impressive,” she said.
“We sent the schools some information on Ag Day and why it's so important, and they incorporated it into the children's leaning to build awareness on the drought and where our food comes.
