Children will begin by attending one day each week from May 11, on days to be determined by individual schools.
It is anticipated more days will be added to the timetable throughout this term, with all children expected to return full time from the start of term three.
The timetable at St Joseph’s Jerilderie is being determined on sporting houses, which principal John Carey said still takes family requirements into account.
“We have decided to split students into their house groups, as that means children from the same family will attend on the same day,” he said.
“On Tuesday all students in Benedicta house will attend school. On Wednesday, Madeleine will attend school.
“At this stage we are calling it our week three strategy, as we await further information for weeks four and five and beyond.”
Mr Carey said the school will take no chance of the Coronavirus spreading, ensuring every health and safety precaution necessary is put in place.
“Teachers, admin and support staff are working to implement protocols for cleaning desks and surfaces, and reminding and supervising students about washing and sanitising their hands after play and using other facilities,” he said.
Mr Carey expects the mix of classroom and home learning to be almost seamless, saying staff and students had been quick to adopt to the new learning system so far.
“All students, whether working from home or at school are completing the same unit of work which is delivered using our Online Learning Systems.
“We are using Google Classrooms for primary classes and SeeSaw for our infants classes. This will be in place for Term Two.
“What our assessment and reporting to parents will look like is still being considered, but there will be a report of some kind sent home for our students that will reflect the level of learning achieved in this first semester (terms one and two).
“We are conscious of returning to school when it’s safe to do so and we have been working on a return to school plan.”
