Students are provided with leadership and mentoring opportunities with local primary school students, adding value to their school experience as well as that of their younger peers.

The school’s focus on academic excellence was highlighted when in 2018 it produced seven ‘distinguished achievers’ in the NSW Higher School Certificate exams.
The honour is bestowed on students who achieved final scores of 90 per cent or higher (Band 6) in any unit.
One student, Patrick Connell, achieved Band 6 results in five subjects and achieved a record English HSC exam result for the school — 96 per cent.
He also managed an outstanding Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 97.9 with the held and guidance of his teachers.
Deniliquin High School places great emphasis on a well-rounded education, with special programs including catering, the Year 11 ‘Mock Interviews’, Year 10 driver education, Great Victorian Bike Ride and work experience.
Deniliquin High School also has a very strong music program and this is an area that its renowned in the district.
As a result of its music program, Variety Night is a major event for the school year and is always anticipated by students, staff and community members.
Principal Glen Warren said the school is striving to ensure the students and wider school community are nurtured throughout their high school years.
‘‘The school community has impressed me with its drive and focus. The staff are committed to providing the best opportunities for all students,’’ he said.
‘‘In 2018 we continued to develop links with our local Indigenous community through MGoals, the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience, NAIDOC Week activities, including hosting of the combined schools public speaking and debating competitions and hosting the Proud and Deadly Awards.’’
