Unfortunately, extreme heat conditions saw them perform for a crowd which was much lower than anticipated.
Gate numbers are estimated to be about 300 people, about 200 less than in 2018.
Those who did brave the conditions were rewarded with cooler conditions once the action started to be held under lights.
With so many competitors for the twilight event, the bucking action continued through to midnight.
The crowd was treated to the best the Australian Professional Rodeo Association could offer, with 350 strapping up for 14 events including bull ride, saddle bronc ride, bareback ride, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, team roping and barrel racing.
Despite the drop in crowd numbers Finley Apex president Lachlan Kerr said it was still a great night for all of those in attendance.
‘‘There’s nothing much you can do about the weather, however it turned out to be a great night,’’ he said.
‘‘Behind the bar it was busy despite the drop in numbers.
‘‘Overall the event went really well.
‘‘It was great to see the highest number of competitors we’ve had at the Finley Rodeo.
‘‘There were so many they had to start the heats in the morning, and we went right through into the night.’’
At the time of going to print yesterday, results were not yet available from the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
