The track, which travels around the eastern outskirts of Tocumwal, has been a desire of the community for many years.
It has already been very well received with many walkers and cyclists travelling through during the official opening ceremony.
The track was constructed by Crawfords Sand & Gravel, Civil Construction of Tocumwal. It is made of decomposed granite and is almost 7km long.
It links to many of the town’s assets.
Berrigan Shire Mayor Matthew Hannan is very enthusiastic about the track’s safety and what it can bring to all.
‘‘It will allow residents of Tocumwal that extra recreational activity the whole community can enjoy,’’ Cr Hannan said.
‘‘The track is a new asset to Tocumwal and exposes us to a wider audience including those visiting town.
‘‘One of the beauties of the walking track around the golf and bowling club is that it provides a safe environment to get off the road to walk the track, as opposed to walking alongside the road.’’
The project was jointly funded by Berrigan Shire Council and the NSW Government, under the Stronger Country Communities Program.
