Corowa Rutherglen’s senior netball coach raised approximately $6000 for NSW Cancer Council from the sheep sale at Corowa Saleyards on March 16.Georgie expressed her gratitude to those who came to sheep sale and supported her.
“Thanks to those in the local farming community who donated sheep and to all the local agents for supporting such a great event,” Georgie said.
The decision to postpone the border-dance event came after the federal government’s announcement for non-essential public gatherings to be fewer than 100 people, due to the threat of COVID-19.
Although the news of postponement was disappointing, Georgie appreciated the NSW Cancer Council taking swift action.
“We have all been working so hard so obviously we are a bit sad and have lost some momentum, but in the grand scheme of things, it is a small hurdle.”
The dancing competition is hoped to go ahead later in the year with a date yet to be announced.
More fundraising events are will be announced once the go ahead is given by the NSW Cancer Council.
“Thanks to everyone else who has contributed so far whether it was with donations, helping out with the basketball charity event or purchasing tickets for either the boat raffle or the event.
“I’d also like to give a huge shout-out to my new dance family, to Enjoy Dance and to my dance partner Anthony Pepers.”
Georgie’s boat raffle tickets are still available to be purchased for $100, with the winner taking home a brand new 4m Quintrex Explorer Trophy boat which includes a trailer, motor, safety vests, registration, fish finder and more accessories.
