Two from four in Murray League return

Tocumwal Football Netball Club’s return to the Murray League saw a big crowd at the Tocumwal Recreation Reserve on Good Friday.

It was a tough day on the scoreboard, however the Bloods kept up their endeavour and tried hard all day.

There were plenty of good signs to take into next week.

Final score: Tocumwal 8.8 (56) lost to Numurkah 20.6 (126).

A big thank you to the Murray League and all clubs for their support on our return.

The Tocumwal Bloods reserves had a thrilling victory over the Numurkah Blues in a closely contested match, winning by just three points.

Despite having a young team, the Bloods showed great determination and skill from the start.

The crowd was cheering them on in the highly anticipated Good Friday clash.

The game was tightly contested throughout, with both teams fighting hard for every possession.

However, the Bloods were able to gain the upper hand thanks to some outstanding performances from their key players.

In the ruck, Zander Griffin was dominant, winning numerous hit-outs and providing great support to his teammates.

New recruit Leigh Morse was also impressive at centre half forward, providing a strong presence up front and helping to set up several scoring opportunities.

However, it was Dane Maxwell at full forward who stole the show, kicking five goals and playing a pivotal role in securing the victory for the Bloods.

In the end, the final scores were in favour of Tocumwal, much to the delight of their enthusiastic supporters.

Final score: Tocumwal 8.6 (54) def Numurkah 7.9 (51).

The thirds had a great start to the season, being able to fill a full side.

The boys have pre-seasoned well and should be happy with their start.

The youngest Bloods footballers had a great pre-season with good numbers at training, and all eager to perform well in the season 2023.

The fourths started the day on Friday by unfurling last year’s flag, before lining up against Numurkah for the season opener.

The Bloods got off to a flyer, defeating their opponent.

It was great to see the teamwork and some great opportunities for goal.

Chace Brunskill put us on the scoreboard early, followed by some great goals from Judd Haebich, Oliver East and Henry Watmore.

The game was dominated with great efforts from Jake Hicks and Cooper Quick through the midfield.

Josh Herezo and Sean Lykissas were brilliant in repelling the football from defence.

In all it was a good team effort.
