Mitre 10 scored a strong win when these teams last met in round three.
Peppin Planners came home with the win this time, and has given themselves a lead in the competition with two rounds remaining.
Peppin Planners would be happy with the strong showing across their 15 players, with six players winning their three sets and four winning two sets.
The final scores were Peppin 15 sets 118 games to Mitre 10 11 sets and 108 games.
Only two sets were decided by tie breaks.
Three set winners were Ruby Hicks, Rowan Frazer, Hamish Baker, Haydn McKay and Jon Gatacre for Peppin, while Mary James played well for Mitre 10 winning her three sets.
Mitre 10 captains Pip Metcalfe and John Henderson said they were not disappointed by the result as their team is now left with the proposition of outscoring Peppin over the remaining two rounds to claw back the lead.
Pip said they were only six sets behind with a total 52 sets yet to be played in the final two rounds.
“We can turn this around,” she said.
John said the team needed to have a few more three set winners on the night.
In the match between Legal Eagles and Deniliquin Newsagency, it was a strong win to underrated and fourth placed Eagles.
In an impressive all-round performance, Eagles won each of the three rounds of tennis and were winners 17 sets 122 games to nine sets 97 games.
Three set winners for the Eagles were Ruby Barnes, Miranda Rose, Adrian Dunmore, Ric Bond and Hamish Thomson.
Rich Larcombe put his shoulder to the wheel for his team by winning three sets.
After round six the table sees Peppin Planners on 84, Mitre 10 on 78, Deniliquin Newsagency on 63 and Legal Eagles with 55 sets.
Club organiser Clive Gow invites players interested in a competition beginning after Easter, running either under lights midweek or on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, to come forward.
The format would be decided after players’ intentions are known.
“It looks like we could have an Indian autumn and players may like to play for another two months,” Gow said.
