Down three key players this week, our under-17s stepped up to support our A-grade ladies.
It was a truly teachable game, with our seniors supporting our juniors. A proud coach moment for Bec Ware, having her under-17s playing alongside her.
Layla Towler picked up defensive tricks with Isabella Kelly and Maya Ackroyd, Charlie Magill shooting alongside Bec and Miley Driscoll running the midcourt.
Congratulations to Charlie on her A-grade debut, and for securing awards in three games played.
Everyone worked hard, trialling different combinations and highlighted some beautiful passages of play.
It was not the result we were hoping for on Saturday, but a big thanks to our juniors for stepping in.

B-grade: Berrigan 48 def Picola United 32.
The girls secured a fantastic win with exceptional teamwork and effort!
They put on a strong defence, supported by excellent passages of play down through the midcourt into the attack, who moved and shot effortlessly.
It was truly seamless gameplay all game, to which each player gave a 110 per cent and contributed beautifully to a well-deserved win.

The Saints were met with a well-trained Picola side this week.
Defensively the Saints applied plenty of pressure and were able to turnover the ball, but were met with a very strong defensive side as we tried to move the ball through to the shooters.
Rach Arnold, Meg Brooks and Gen Taylor had a great time in defence, providing plenty of entertainment for everyone to see.
We welcomed back Vanessa Parr after being injured in round one.
Plenty to work on at training week and hopefully we can return to the winner’s board.

The Saints knew they were in for a tough game while they were down a shooter and both defenders.
Gracie Rice and Erica Hammond stepped up after running an immaculate full game in the under-17s.
Their defensive pressure and phenomenal rebounds kept Picola’s score low.
Makayla Cockrane had an absolute blinder in the midcourt with some impressive driving and leading, really opening the court up.
There were great leads in the attack, and Chloe Hudson and Annie Cameron worked tirelessly to get around the high defensive pressure Picola had in the ring.

As the morning fog lifted, the Saints were ready for business.
They really showed off their defensive pressure on the court, which gave the team a 16-point lead in the first quarter.
Even though the team was down a key player, Lucy Pyle really stepped it up a level and showed us what she’s got.
As always, Erica Hammond and Gracie Rice are rebounding queens, and Miley Driscoll and Annabelle Brooks lead drives through the midcourt to be a power force.
Charlie Magill and Layla Towler flew through in the goals like the bosses they are.

Under-15s: Berrigan 22 def by Picola United 32.
The Saints worked hard all game and had some beautiful passages of play down the court.
Tehya Kelly and Rosie Phillips worked hard in the defence brilliantly, preventing many goals with awesome intercepts and rebounds.
Lucy Pyle and Princess Arcasitas both displayed some beautiful holds and shot some impressive goals.
The girls set themselves a goal of getting 20 goals and surpassed that with their hard work and determination.

Under-13s: Berrigan 46 def Picola United 24.
The under-13s turned up fired and ready to go, despite being short on numbers.
Ella Swan made her under-13s debut and what she lacked in size, she made up for it in enthusiasm and joy.
Our midcourt was on fire, quickly and precisely bringing the ball down the court, turning it up!
There were some outstanding passages of play, particularly with Faith Nepomuceno’s flighty pace in the defence.
Evie Cameron and Sophia-Ruby Morgan had exceptional performances in the goal ring, with Sophia-Ruby shooting 41 of the goals scored.

What a game our little Saints put in against the well-oiled Picola team.
Our defence was on point with Lizzie Gorman’s giant leaps in the goal ring, backed up by Sophie Winkie and Charlotte James to stop goals.
