The round 20 fixture will see the Rams take on the Road who have three teams finals bound including the seniors and reserves football and C-grade netball.
The Congupna seniors are a particularly strong side, having only lost one match this season.
Meanwhile, the Rams have four teams destined for finals, the thirds and fourths footballers and the under-13s and under-17s netballers.
Each of the Rams teams will be looking for a good hit-out before finals begin next week.
This week’s assignment will be even tougher than last weekend, when the Rams suffered a 128 point loss to third placed Mulwala.
Rams seniors coach John Fitzpatrick said the team’s performance was sub-par against Mulwala, one of the league’s best teams.
“They were a very, very good side,” he said.
“They had a dominant ruck and strong midfielder down from the VFL and were very strong out of the midfield.
“For our blokes, it was probably the worst performance of the year.”
With Congupna already guaranteed to finish on top of the ladder as minor premiers, there is speculation about how they will take on this weekend as part of their finals' preparation.
However, due to the top two teams getting the first week of Murray League finals off, Fitzpatrick said he was expecting the full brunt of the Road’s senior side.
“I’m thinking they’ll probably want a good hit-out and it will definitely be a really big challenge for us.
“The boys were talking about it at training on Tuesday, and we’ll take the bus down, take it as it is and try to finish the year off strongly.”
Set to finish the season in 10th place, the Rams have already started thinking ahead to next season.
After starting the season hot, with three wins out of their first four matches, the seniors side hasn’t won a game since.
However, with a young side, the playing list has dramatically increased their senior experience this season, which they’ll continue to do this weekend.
“We started the season off really well,” Fitzpatrick said.
“We had (Will) Shaw, Chase (Bartlett) playing and a few of our (boarding) school kids playing.
“Then the kids went back to school and Mick (Barnett) went away for six weeks; Steve Todd went away, so it was hard.
“But we knew that coming into the season and I’m happy enough with how we’ve gone.
“We’ve got games into blokes who needed a bit of senior experience.
“We’ve also been able to try and find out a few things.
“Zac Free has moved from a forward midfielder and gone back of late and he has been good.”
“The experience this season should have us in good stead for next year.
“We’ve had 15 to 18 senior games and experience into a lot of these players that will have now played 30 to 35 senior games; the likes of Andrew Smith who was 17 and has just turned 18.”
The coach realises it will be a tough end to the season against the top side, but is hoping the 2026 season will lay a foundation for the future.
