Teams up and down the ladder are facing must-win games, with a number of sides fighting for a spot in the eight and the battle for the top four a close one.
For Katandra and Katamatite a spot in the top four is the goal, with the duo set to fight it out in a round 14 clash at the Katandra Recreation Reserve on Saturday afternoon.
Currently in third spot on the ladder, a win to Katandra would go a long way to locking in a double chance for the side.
Katandra coach Trent Herbert said he was looking forward to the challenge of Katamatite.
“We’ve had a couple of good hit-outs the last couple of games so it will be good to come up against a side that is sort of top four benchmark,” Herbert said.
“That second chance, it’s massive, it sort of sets up the rest of the season and into finals which will be good.”
The Kats will have a number of outs on the weekend, however they will welcome the experienced Luke Smith back for the contest.
“We’ll put our best team forward as much as we can and hopefully get away with the win,” he said.
“It’s a good challenge to try and beat another side that’s going to play finals when they come around.”
Like Katandra, Katamatite still has a number of outs, however with the game a must-win the Tigers will be up for the contest.
Katamatite coach Jedd Wright said the side was ready to go.
“We haven’t played for nearly three weeks now so everyone will just be looking forward to getting back out there,” Wright said.
“With a bit of luck we’ll probably only have four or five with a few coming back through the seconds so hopefully it will lead us into a good finals series.”
Wright said he expected Katandra to be young and fit, with quick movement of the ball.
“They look to run the ball pretty quick out of their backline so we’ll just be looking to make it a real stoppage game and hopefully get them on contested footy,” he said.
“It’s really important, I think whoever wins this game will probably finish in fourth really so it’s important that we put on a good showing and hopefully come away with a win.”
Katandra’s game against Katamatite will begin at 2.05pm on Saturday afternoon.
In other round 14 action, Rennie will host Katunga in a must-win game for the Hoppers.
Elsewhere Berrigan will travel to Deniliquin to take on the Rovers and Mathoura will play host to Picola United.
Strathmerton will be looking to re-join the winners’ list when it welcomes Tocumwal, while Jerilderie will take on Waaia away from home.
Tungamah and Blighty have a week off.
