The former Rochdale maestro made the 17,000km trip from Merseyside to the Goulburn Valley in 2024 and has since established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet under boss Craig Carley.
The 28-year-old midfielder has enjoyed something of a journeyman career to date, with his prowess on the field having provided him with career opportunities spanning three separate continents.
Starting his career in the English football pyramid, he enjoyed spells with the City of Liverpool FC, AFC Liverpool and Chorley FC, alongside a stint in the United States with the Georgia Revolution.
After making the move to Shepparton two years ago, he has taken Victoria by storm, earning the VPL 2 Golden Boot with 15 strikes in his first full season in the side’s famous navy blue jersey.
The Scouser also earned the coveted VPL2 Player of the Year honours in a memorable debut campaign in Australia and followed this up with a strong second season after quickly becoming a talismanic figure in the dressing room.
Fast forward to 2026 and the No.10 has carried on from where he left off, inspiring the Suns to a ten-game unbeaten run in the league – the best showing in the club’s history – as well as guiding his teammates to the seventh round of the Australia Cup.
In a moment that will live long in the memory, Schorah grabbed a picture-book winning goal in round six of the cup up against the Eastern Lions as the hosts saw out a 2-1 victory in a carnival atmosphere in Shepparton.
After holding off the advances of the opposition defender, the Englishman swivelled with his back to goal, before producing a deft chip on the volley to leave goalkeeper Keegan Coulter flailing.
This was the latest standout moment in Schorah’s storied spell Down Under, with his heroics earning him the utmost respect from his head coach, Craig Carley.
Speaking as the club’s cup fairytale continued under the lights against the Lions, he earmarked the Liverpool lad as arguably the greatest player to grace the field in Suns colours.
“He’s the benchmark for any young player coming through at our club,” his boss said.
“He’s starting to really etch himself into the folklore as possibly the best player the club has ever had.
GV Suns' Callum Schorah has been a revelation since making the move from Liverpool.
“He’s a credit to himself both on and off the pitch and a champion of a human being, first and foremost.
“Callum is what this club is all about – he’s been loyal, it’s obviously his third season now and he’s been a standout, not only for our club but for the competition.”
Looking ahead to the future after a spellbinding first few years in Victoria, coach Carley outlined his hopes for his star man to become part of the furniture for years to come at the club.
“We absolutely love having him in and around the place, hopefully we can keep Callum longer term if he decides to stay in Australia.
“He just finds pockets of space and it’s the stuff people don’t see in terms of his qualities – he scores outrageous goals all the time (in training).
“We get to see that time after time and session after session and I couldn’t talk highly enough of him – he’s a champion.”
The fixtures continue to come thick and fast for the Suns following their cup commitments, with a VPL2 League fixture in the diary versus Box Hill United Pythagoras down at Wembley Park on May 16.
“This is going to be a real test, I get along with their coach (Alphonso Riani) really well, ” Carley said, previewing the trip to Melbourne in round 13.
“What he has this year is a really resilient defensive side, they don’t concede many goals – just eight all season – so they’re very hard to beat.
“Their style of play is effective for them and they will probably allow us to have the ball and try and counter attack.
“This one can really define whether we are going to push (leaders Malvern) or drop points against teams in and around us.”
