The club dived in to its first swim of 2026-27 in a teams event on Wednesday evening with a good turnout on course.
Slightly cooler conditions assisted the athletes in their endeavours as they took on the three stages in teams, or in rare cases, alone.
Warren Lowry takes on the bike leg.
“Splash and Dash is now in full swing,” club secretary Sarah Mulkearns said.
“We've got several races before having the Christmas break and then heading into the multi-sport weekend.
“We always love seeing new faces coming down and giving triathlon a go and seeing what it's all about.”
Shane O'Donnell took on teams event solo.
The pairing of Shane Kervin and Fin Arnold won the day, while Shannon and Lauren Dehne were second across the line.
Wednesday will bring the first full triathlons of the season.
Also of note was the continued influx of juniors trying out triathlon, an aspect Mulkearns said the club had been focusing on.
Junior Lucy O'Neale stepped up to the senior course with dad Haydn in support.
“We've had quite a few new locals come down and try it out particularly our juniors,” she said.
“We're really trying to spend some time on introducing juniors to the sport because it is a niche sport.
“We've been getting 30-plus down to those weekly events, which is awesome to see and has made for some beautiful nights along the river.”
Ray Huylands hits the home stretch.
The club’s multisport weekend, which attracts hundreds to Echuca Moama for the sprint triathlon and Wharf to Winery swim, is also fast approaching and entries are set to open from next week.
