Jerilderie continued their strong season with a composed and well-rounded 21 point win over Strathmerton on Saturday, showcasing class across all four quarters and stepping up in key moments.
From the outset, Jerilderie set the tone.
Their early pressure and cleaner ball use gave them a strong first-quarter lead, which they built on steadily through the day, despite a spirited second-quarter fightback from the Bulldogs.
Kane Hawkins was a standout all over the ground, consistently presenting as a threat and finishing with three goals in a dominant display.
His aerial presence and movement through the corridor were pivotal in linking defence to attack.
In defence, Max Diffey continued to build his reputation as one of the league’s most reliable rebounders.
His skilful and composed efforts in the defensive 50 repeatedly turned defence into offence, setting up numerous forward movements.
Veteran Jeff Garlett proved once again that class is permanent.
Gathering between 15 to 20 disposals, he made each possession count, whether by creating space, delivering inside 50, or hitting the scoreboard himself.
His impact was felt every time he touched the ball.
Ollie Knight continued his breakout season with another impressive display.
His work rate, clean hands, and contested ball wins in the middle were instrumental in Jerilderie gaining and maintaining momentum throughout the game.
When the game looked like it might tip, Chas Retallick stepped up at a crucial moment, injecting himself into the contest and swinging momentum back Jerilderie’s way with a timely goal and physical presence.
Max Bruton had his most complete outing of the season, finishing with two majors and playing with confidence and flair.
His ability to hit the scoreboard and apply forward pressure was a major boost for the Demons.
Around the ball, Zye Treadway rediscovered his fire and stamped his authority on the contest.
His aggression at the stoppages and clean hands helped Jerilderie win the clearance battle and deny Strathmerton a foothold in the second half.
The Demons now look forward to a battle at home against a strong Katunga side.

Thirds
The under 17s knew it would be a tough game against third placed Strathmerton.
They came in as they do every week with only a handful of players and needing a few of the Strathy boys to help them out.
It was a challenging game, with Strathy a skilful team who played great footy.
The young Demons gave it their all and stood up all over the field, but with few numbers, it was a struggle to get the ball into their forward line.
As disappointing as the score was, these Jerilderie boys continue to keep their heads up, keep battling and look forward to their next game.

Fourths
The under 14s took on a very strong Strathy side on their home turf. From the first bounce, Strathy came out firing and had the early edge.
Despite the scoreboard, the young players never gave up. Over the remaining three quarters, they dug deep and played tough, contested footy. The boys and girls showed real resilience, managing to shut down a lot of Strathy’s usual free-flowing style.
There were patches of great ball movement from the Demons, who continued to find ways to take the game on right to the final siren.
Thanks to those who donated to cover the dinner, and to the club for organising the bus trip, which was a great experience for all involved.
