The club’s $40,000 2025 Moama Bowling Club Gold Cup was named the Isla Vodka Country Racing Victoria community club event of the year.
The award was in the category for clubs with six or fewer meetings per year.
The eternally effervescent Gunbower president Vicky McGillivray was so pumped by the win especially leading in to the next Cup day in just six weeks time.
Gunbower was thrilled to receive the award over the other finalists bet365 William Thomson Dunkeld Cup, the Nutrien Ag Solutions Manangatang Cup, and the Costello Rural Towong Cup.
“Even better, the Liam Howley trained Station One, which won our 2025 cup, was also crowned horse of the year,” she said.
About 800 packed The Plenary at the Melbourne Convention Centre for the annual CRV awards evening on Saturday night.
Vicky said everyone there from Gunbower was elated when the club’s name was read out.
“This is such a vote of confidence for our very hardworking all volunteer committee and all the people who turn out for the meeting every October,” she said.
“In 2025, we were one of the host clubs for the Lexus Melbourne Cup tour, our cup meeting itself was a massive success and just about a sell out, and now to receive this industry honour is simply the icing on the cake.”

The 2026 Gunbower Gold Cup will be held on Saturday, October 3.
