Efficient Echuca makes light work of Demons

The Demons booted the first of the second before Echuca resumed its dominance, the period being its most dominant of the day as it laid on nine goals — including seven in a row — to the Demons’ three.

Simon Maddox’s side led 16.8 (104) to 5.2 (32) at half-time and only continued the avalanche in the third, which was punctuated by a run of five straight goals, Echuca’s margin nearing triple figures ahead of the fourth.

Current leader Shepparton defeated Ky in action elsewhere, meaning it still holds a four-point gap over Echuca.

The Bears simply need to beat Rochester on the final match day to secure first.

However, a loss, coupled with Echuca defeating Mooroopna, could result in the Murray Bombers stealing top spot, though Maddox’s side also has a percentage gap to make up.
