Echuca’s A-grade netballers played out a thriller with Mooroopna, which ended in a 37-37 draw, meaning the Murray Bombers finished the regular season in third.
Meanwhile, the senior football side placed second to end its season, entering the finals series with confidence after a 12.12 (84) to 6.12 (48) win over the Cats.
In the Murray league, Moama, Echuca United and Tongala had inconsistent results across both codes.
Moama ended its football season on a high with an 11.8 (74) to 6.8 (44) win over Rumbalara.
But its A-grade netball side narrowly lost to Rumba 51-50 to end its season with successive losses, finishing fifth.
Tongala also had a mixed day at the office against Finley.
The Blues were humbled 5.7 (37) to 14.12 (96) in senior football, but won A-grade netball with ease, 69-43.
Finally, Echuca United was up against it facing Mulwala and lost both match-ups.
The Eagles went down 6.3 (39) to 12.18 (90) in football and 71-50 in netball.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Heathcote District Football League action saw Lockington-Bamawm United’s reserves lose a grand final qualifier to North Bendigo 6.7 (43) to 9.11 (65).
That loss followed another qualifying final defeat earlier in the day for the Cats in the under-15s, with Leitchville-Gunbower making the division’s grand final after a 6.7 (43) to 4.9 (33) win.
Today, Sunday, August 23, Lockington’s senior side will look to prolong its season for another week by defeating North Bendigo in a semi-final at Toolleen Recreation Reserve, with the first bounce at 2.30pm.
