Southern Riverina Veterans
The Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association October Competition Day was played on Monday at the Jerilderie Golf and Sports Club.
Stableford was played with 80 golfers taking part.
After countback, Denis Myers from Tocumwal claimed the Division 1 trophy on 39 points.
Runner-up was Cobram Barooga player John Hyde, also with 39 points.
Peter Quirk from Tocumwal had 41 points to take the Division 2 trophy, with Norm Elliot from Cobram Barooga earning 39 points to be runner-up.
Wayne Crew from Berrigan had 38 points to win Division 3.
Frank Vogel from Cobram Barooga was runner-up on 37 points.
NTP on the 5th was Greg Brooks from Cobram Barooga, on the 13th Norm Elliot from Cobram Barooga, on the 7th Tom Wilton from Tocumwal and on the 16th it was Denis Myers again from Tocumwal.
Ball competition winners were players who finished with 30 points or better.
Berrigan
Friday’s winner was Wayne Crew (54-18-36), and runner up was Gail Browne (45-6.5-38.5).
Crew also won the putting with 13 putts, and ball winner was Steve Senini (53-13-40).
Saturday’s winner was Jeff Stein (46-10.5-35.5), and runner-up was Gail Browne (43-6.5-36.5).
Stein also won the putting with 10 putts.
Sunday’s winner was Dave Midson with 32 points, and runner-up was Allan Arnold with 31 points.
Stein was ball winner for a second time for the weekend, with 31 points.
Next Sunday is a two person ambrose trade day. Tee off is at noon.

Finley
The welcomed rain saw the abandonment of all competition golf at Finley on Wednesday and Thursday last week.
It took a five hole playoff to get a winner when the 2023 36 Hole Mixed Foursome Championship was played on Saturday.
At the end of the day, it was Trevor and Kim McCaw who claimed the championship with a gross score of 182 from Grant Wilson and Sharon Pyle, also on 182 gross.
In the net competition, played in conjunction with the championship, it was Dave Cordell and Janet Delmenico with 142 net who came out the winners.
Ladies NTP on the 13th went to Beth White, whilst Men’s NTP on the 13th was Mark O’Brien. On the 18th it was Trevor McCaw.
Ball competition winners were Wayne Peasley and Sue Simpson on 146, Mark and Julie O’Brien on 147 and Rob and Gai Singleton who finished with 148 net.
Stableford was played on Sunday with the Barooga Sporties Trophy going to the ladies division winner, Sue Simpson, with 35 points.
In the men’s division it was Michael McRae (Tocumwal) with 45 points.
NTP on the 13th went begging and on the 18th it was Rand Wilson.
Ball competition winners were Jason Pyle 40, Ray Healey 39, Paul Pinnuck 36, Tony Smith 35 and Maureen McNamara (Wynnum, Queensland) who had 34 stableford points.
Jerilderie
Thursday golf was cancelled due to the wet course.
Sunday was the first day of the new daylight saving starting time - 8am for 8.30am start.
Golfers played stroke with the winner being Luke Keating with an amazing score of 78/12/66.
Lance Boardman (100/31/69) also had a great round. followed by Gina Simpson (109/38/71) on countback from Greg Collier (98/27/71).
NTPs: 5th Lance Boardman; 10th Luke Keating; 13th Wayne Neilson; 15th Mick Pitt; 16th Ian Taylor.
Tomorrow will be the ladies monthly medal and Sunday is the two person ambrose. Draw for a partner.
