In round one, Cottam took on Division 1 bowler Vidura (Panda) Gunaratne and came away with a 21-14 win.
Cottam followed that up in the afternoon with a 21-13 win over highly rated Steve Gann.
After a nip-and-tuck battle, Cottam found his groove with the long ends and was able to get one bowl in the head to upset Gann's plans.
It doesn't get any easier for Cottam as he takes on Rick Bradbury in the semi-final next week.

Predicted scorching temperatures saw an early start for Saturday pennant, with Division 1 and 3 both hosting Numurkah Golf.
In Division 1, the Curlews were jumped early by a strong Numurkah Golf team and it looked like a thumping was on the way.
The team settled but still went down 37-66 (0-16).
Paul Glanvill lost 12-25, Graeme Clements lost 14-21 and Rob Lillis lost 11-20.
The Curlews will travel to Numurkah this week in search of their first win.
Division 3 led most of the day but the top-of-the-ladder Numurkah Golf team were always going to finish strongly.
In the end, the Curlews lost narrowly 59-62 (4-12).
Steve Gann and his rink of Paul McVicar, Jack Buckman and Gavin Schweicker won 16-12, Glenys McKay won 24-23 and Alex Dalgliesh went down 19-27.
Division 3 will also travel to Numurkah this week.
Division 4 forfeited again. They are scheduled to play Tocumwal Golf at home this week.
