The smiling face of Tocumwal’s Christina Roberts is most often seen making the rounds as she delivers parcels around town, or chasing after her two young children.

But this self professed “quiet achiever” has smashed it for a six by being named in the 2025-26 Northern Rivers Women’s Team of the Year.
“I am shocked at how much it’s blown up. I’m low-key proud of myself,” she said.
The Tocumwal Cricket Club took to social media last week to congratulate Christina and share how proud they were of her achievement.
“This recognition is a true reflection of Christina’s talent, determination and unwavering commitment to the game,” the club said.
“To be recognised among the very best female cricketers across the Northern Rivers region is an outstanding achievement and one that is thoroughly deserved.”
Christina previously made Team of the Year for Goulburn Murray Cricket in the 2021/22 season, and was named A-grade Champion Player 2022/23, both while representing Shepparton Youth Club United.
“I represented Albury in the Plan B Regional Bash in Goulburn back in November as well,” Christina said.
She also featured in the winning team, representing Northern Rivers, at the 2025 Victorian Country Cricket League (VCCL) Regional Women’s Challenge which is an annual T20 cricket tournament aimed at showcasing elite female talent on the pitch.
Christina has previously featured in many club based roles across the local region, playing in various grades at Tocumwal Cricket Club since 2011, including men’s A grade, and was a founding member of the Katamatite women’s team in 2023, which she has captained for going on three years.

“I played a lot of cricket last season for a number of teams, so that helps get your name up there too,” Christina said.
“The team of the year is made up of the best cricketers in the region. All the player statistics are online these days, and every player who is registered comes up in a big list.
“I just happened to be in the top 12 for the region.”
Christina’s quiet modesty shines behind her achievements as she explained how she self nominated for the team based on having played for Northern Rivers back in high school.
“I couldn’t make the training days, but was lucky to get picked … they needed an extra player,” she said.
Achievements like Christina’s can inspire new interest and commitment in current and future players, and she continues to be a strong role model for young athletes.
“Her dedication continues to inspire the next generation of young girls to pick up a bat and ball, chase their dreams, and believe that they too can achieve great things,” said Tocumwal Cricket Club on social media, while Katamatite Cricket Club has credited Roberts as a “captain with a wealth of knowledge”.
