The Coleambally community came together last week to celebrate the official opening of the new Coleambally Library, marking an important milestone in the delivery of modern community facilities across the Murrumbidgee Council area.

Residents joined Murrumbidgee Council representatives, State Library of NSW representatives and special guests to officially open the facility, which has been operating since June.
Following the official proceedings, attendees enjoyed morning tea and a range of family-friendly activities including bookmark decorating, a library scavenger hunt, outdoor picnic reading, a themed photo corner and prize giveaways for library members.
The new library has been designed to provide a contemporary, welcoming and accessible space for residents of all ages to connect, learn and discover.
Co-located with council's administration offices, the facility enhances access to library services while creating a central community hub for Coleambally.
The project was supported through $500,000 in funding from the NSW Government through the State Library of NSW.

This funding is being shared across the development of both the Coleambally and Darlington Point libraries, with each facility co-located alongside council office spaces to maximise community benefit and service delivery.
The Darlington Point space is currently under construction and due for completion at the end of the year.
Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae OAM said it was pleasing to see the community embracing the new facility.
"This library has already proven to be a valuable community asset, with strong community support since opening and excellent participation in programs such as Storytime," Cr McRae said.
"The official opening provided an opportunity to celebrate not only a wonderful new facility, but also the important role libraries play in connecting people, encouraging lifelong learning and supporting our communities."
State Library of NSW Head of Public Library Services Cameron Morley congratulated the Coleambally community and Murrumbidgee Council for expanding library services in such a meaningful way with this facility.
“Public libraries are so important for people at all stages of their lives, and the State Library is very proud to have been able to assist,” he said.
The new facility continues to operate as part of the Western Riverina Libraries network, providing residents with access to an extensive collection of resources, programs and services available across the region.
