Chelsea takes the Winn at State Finals

Chelsea Winn has booked her spot in the Edith Parsons Physie Sydney Zone Competition grand final after an excellent performance in Sydney on Saturday.

Chelsea competed in the 13 year-old division and will now compete in the grand final at Quay Centre, Sydney Olympic Park on December 13.

She was joined by six fellow Murrumbidgee club members at Saturday’s semi finals.

Murrumbidgee club manager Christine Sandquest said all members worked throughout the year under very difficult conditions due to COVID-19 restrictions.

‘‘Instead of face-to-face classes, for most of the year they learned by Zoom classes and outdoor classes on netball courts in both Jerilderie and Coleambally,’’ she said.

‘‘Fortunately normal classes were able to resume a few months ago and, despite all the difficulties, the girls performed to the best of their abilities along with some very experienced girls from all over the state.’’

Twelve girls were selected by judges in each age group to progress to the grand finals.

‘‘We are very proud that Chelsea Winn will represent our club at grand final level this year,’’ Sandquest said.

Murrumbidgee club competitors who joined Chelsea on the day were Teagan Aylett (9 years-old), Claire Boag (8), Hannah Vreneric (9), Ruby Neessen (10) and Savannah McKinnon (10).
